For grown-ups: what does Year 4 learn?
These games follow the National Curriculum for England, Key Stage 2 (Year 4):
- Times tables: every table up to 12 × 12, including practice in the style of the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (25 questions, 6 seconds each, typed answers).
- Number and place value: four-digit numbers, rounding to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000, negative numbers in context, and tenths and hundredths as decimals.
- Measurement and geometry: area and perimeter of rectangles and L-shapes, and co-ordinates in the first quadrant.
- Grammar and punctuation: fronted adverbials and commas, apostrophes for plural possession, and standard English verb forms.
- Science: electricity (simple circuits, conductors and insulators, safety) and states of matter (changes of state and the water cycle).
Note: the Times Table Dragon has an untimed Learn level, a 10-second level and a 25-question practice level in the style of the real check. The timed levels can feel stressful, so start with Learn if your child is not yet confident.
Tip: sit with your child for the first go, and talk about each answer together. More for grown-ups.
