Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 10 October 2026

In short: we want every child to be able to use these games. We aim to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standard. We have not yet had an independent accessibility audit, so there are likely to be things we have missed, and we want to hear about them.

What we have done

The kids' games were built with these features:

  • Everything can be used with a keyboard, with a clear focus outline, and a “Skip to content” link on every page.
  • Large buttons that are easy to tap, with no need for fine mouse control or dragging.
  • Read-aloud: each question can be read out using the device's own voice.
  • Sound can be switched off, and animations are reduced if your device is set to prefer less motion.
  • Hints are available on every question.
  • Pages adapt to phones, tablets and computers, and text can be enlarged with browser zoom.

Known limits

We are working on the following:

  • A few games rely on pictures, such as shapes, graphs, clocks and pattern puzzles. They have short text descriptions, but these do not always give a screen-reader user everything a sighted child can see.
  • A few games, such as Times Table Dragon and Arithmetic Blitz, have timed levels, which may be stressful. The younger years have no timers.
  • We have mostly tested with a keyboard and on a few browsers. We have not yet tested thoroughly with screen readers or voice control.
  • The older 11+ Exam Zone pages were built earlier and are less polished for accessibility than the games, for example in text size and some colour contrasts.
